Arsenal’s Premier League title hopes took another hit on Saturday following a frustrating 1-1 draw against Everton at Goodison Park.
Leandro Trossard’s well-placed finish in the 34th minute gave the visitors the lead after capitalising on a defensive mix-up.
The Belgian, leading the line in place of rested starters, evaded Jake O’Brien and slotted past Jordan Pickford with composure.
But Arsenal’s advantage vanished barely a minute into the second half.
Young full-back Miles Lewis-Skelly brought down Jack Harrison in the box, prompting referee Darren England to award a penalty.
Iliman Ndiaye converted the spot kick with ease, sending David Raya the wrong way.
The equaliser visibly rattled Arsenal, with Doucoure nearly putting the hosts ahead moments later.
However, Raya was alert to the danger, while Pickford did the same at the other end, denying a rocket from Declan Rice.
Mikel Arteta rotated heavily with Tuesday’s Champions League clash against Real Madrid in mind, but his side’s momentum suffered.
