Real Betis push for Antony loan extension
Real Betis are set to reopen negotiations with Manchester United over extending Antony’s stay in Spain, with the La Liga club willing to secure another loan for the resurgent Brazilian winger.
Since arriving on loan in January, Antony has rediscovered his form under Manuel Pellegrini, contributing three goals and two assists.
His form has been vital to Betis pursuit of European qualification and a potential spot in the UEFA Conference League final.
Sporting director Manu Fajardo confirmed the club’s intent but admitted negotiations are still in the preliminary stages:
“It’s still early, but we will try in different ways to do everything possible to continue enjoying Antony,” Fajardo told Spanish media.
According to The Daily Telegraph, Betis cannot meet United’s €45 million valuation outright.
Instead, they are proposing a second season-long loan with an increased salary contribution and a purchase option for 2026.
Manchester United, amid an aggressive cost-cutting campaign under the new INEOS-led structure, are receptive to offers but are reportedly pushing for the purchase option to be mandatory to guarantee a permanent exit.
Antony’s long-term future at Old Trafford is effectively over, with United seeking to streamline their squad and wage commitments ahead of a crucial summer rebuild.
