Emiliano Martinez is pushing hard for a “dream” move to Manchester United this summer, with the Aston Villa goalkeeper reportedly set on joining the Old Trafford outfit amid doubts over Andre Onana’s future.

According to The Sun, the 2022 World Cup winner views United as his preferred destination and is actively stalling offers from other interested parties, including Galatasaray.

He intends to seal a Premier League stay at a higher-profile club.

His emotional farewell gestures at the end of Villa’s season have only intensified speculation about his departure.

United’s bos Ruben Amorim, is believed to be a long-time admirer of Martinez.

He previously tried to sign the Argentine while at Sporting CP in 2020 and now sees the 32-year-old as a potential leader in the dressing room as he begins an aggressive squad overhaul.

Amorim is reportedly targeting seasoned “captains and leaders” to inject maturity and accountability into a United side that has underperformed over the past two seasons.

While United have not made a formal bid, Martinez’s insistence and Villa’s willingness to cash in, coupled with their own interest in Lille’s Lucas Chevalier, could accelerate negotiations.

Meanwhile, Onana, who has failed to consistently convince since his £48m arrival, could be on the way out.

AS Monaco are said to be monitoring his situation and could offer an escape route.
