Labour Party’s factional National Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Arabambi, announced plans to expel Peter Obi for joining the ADC-led coalition.

Speaking to Channels TV on Tuesday, Arabambi said Obi’s actions are unconstitutional, noting it is illegal to belong to two parties simultaneously.

We are convening an NEC meeting where he will be expelled,” he said, adding the expulsion will be ratified at the party convention.

Arabambi claimed Obi did not build the Labour Party but benefited from it, citing #EndSARS protests and past administration failures.

He accused Obi of authoritarianism, saying he fights party members to impose his will.

Labour Party had given Obi 48 hours to resign over his coalition involvement.

Party spokesperson Obiora Ifoh called coalition members opportunists seeking power.

Obi insists he remains a Labour Party member and said his coalition role aims to unite opposition ahead of 2027 elections.
