While Nigerian stars aren’t as prevalent as they used to be in English football’s top flight, we’re still seeing some top professionals turn it on in the competition. Ola Aina (Nottingham Forest)

Alex Iwobi (Fulham)

Alex Iwobi has cemented himself as one of Fulham’s key performers. A graduate from Arsenal’s academy, injuries and a loss of form hindered him at both the Gunners and Everton previously. Settled at Fulham now, though, his renaissance under Marco Silva has been special. Iwobi scored nine goals and picked up six assists last campaign and he’s more than capable of building on it.

Frank Onyeka (Brentford)

A player several clubs are reportedly assessing, Frank Onyeka’s time at Brentford appears to be over. Should he stay, though, then the Bees have a readymade replacement for Christian Norgaard. After a fruitful loan spell with German side FC Augsburg last season, Onyeka looks ready for Premier League football under new Brentford boss Keith Andrews.

Calvin Bassey (Fulham)

Nigeria defender Calvin Bassey is another player who is enjoying life with the Cottagers. Bassey featured in almost all of Fulham’s Premier League games last season, contributing to a record points haul. He also won Fulham’s Player of the Season.
