A gadget vendor has raised alarm after a man allegedly posed as a fellow vendor and made away with an iPhone 13 Pro and ₦600,000 during a fraudulent phone swap transaction in Ikeja, Lagos.

This is contained in a post made available on a popular social media platform, X, formerly known as Twitter.

According to the post, the incident occurred when the man arrived at the vendor’s shop with a lady, claiming he wanted to swap her iPhone 13 Pro for a 14 Pro Max (eSIM unlocked).

The suspect was reportedly meant to transfer the balance after confirming the device but insisted on stepping out to the bank around 3:43 PM to complete the transaction. He later changed his mind, saying he would use a POS instead.

The vendor explained that after finalizing the file transfer between both phones, the suspect suggested they proceed to activate the eSIM and then make the withdrawal.

Due to time constraints, as it was already 5 PM and the eSIM vendor was about to close, the vendor couldn’t leave the lady behind to follow the suspect to the POS.

Instead, the man offered to handle the money transfer while the vendor monitored the eSIM process.

That was the last time he was seen.

The man reportedly disappeared with the lady’s phone and the sum of ₦600,000. The affected lady is now accusing the vendor of working with the suspect.

The vendor, in the post, urged the public to be vigilant and report the suspect if seen anywhere, warning others to be cautious with whom they transact business.
