Manchester United have confirmed that new signing Bryan Mbeumo will wear the No. 19 shirt following his high-profile transfer from Brentford.

The Cameroon international joins United in a deal worth £71 million, comprising an initial £65 million fee and £6 million in performance-based add-ons.

Mbeumo becomes the club’s second marquee signing of the summer, following Brazilian attacker Matheus Cunha.

The 25-year-old forward retains the same squad number he wore at Brentford, where he made 242 appearances and scored 70 goals.

At United, the No. 19 jersey was last worn by Real Madrid legend Raphael Varane, who departed the club at the end of the 2023/24 season.

Other past holders include Marcus Rashford, Danny Welbeck, and Eric Djemba-Djemba.

Speaking after his unveiling, Mbeumo said: “As soon as I knew there was a chance to join Manchester United, I had to take the opportunity to sign for the club of my dreams; the team whose shirt I wore growing up. I know that I have the spirit and character to reach another level here.”

He praised the vision under manager Ruben Amorim and expressed determination to contribute to United’s ambitions of competing for major silverware.
