Daniel Johnson, a former Navy commander, and his wife, Elizabeth, had seven children, Okojie being the fourth. She is originally from Okene, Kogi State, but was born in Lagos, Nigeria. She attended Nigerian Navy Secondary School, Port Harcourt, where she began her elementary schooling in Calabar, Cross River State.

Career

Okojie went to try out for a part in The Maid after finishing high school. She also starred in a number of movies, such as War in the Palace, Baby Oku in America, and Hustlers. Her work in Live to Remember earned her Best Supporting Actress at the 2009 Africa Movie Academy Awards, while her appearance in the comedy film Dumebi the Dirty Girl earned her Best Actress at the 2013 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.

On August 27, 2011, she wed Prince Odianosen Okojie, and in December, she was ranked as the most searched Nigerian celebrity on Google, a title she maintained in 2012. She serves as Yahaya Bello’s Senior Special Assistant (SSA) for the arts, culture, and entertainment. The position becomes active on April 1, 2017.

On November 3, 2013, Okojie was prohibited from participating in motion pictures when it was discovered that she was receiving excessive compensation for her performances. After an apology, the restriction was revoked on March 9, 2014. The Legend of Inikpi was produced by her. Okojie signed an endorsement contract with Hollandia Evap Milk, a Prime brand owned by Chi Limited, in October 2019. She also joined Pennek Nigeria Limited, a real estate investment firm, as a brand ambassador.

In a traditional Edo wedding, Mercy Johnson married Prince Odianosen Okojie, an Edo prince, in her family home while wearing symbolic clothing. On August 27, 2011, the wedding took place at her family’s residence in Oke Adan, Gospel Village, Iyano, Isashi, Okoko, Lagos State.

When Lovely Okojie, a woman, came forward and insisted that Prince Odi was still married to her, she married him in the midst of controversy. For his offspring to be accepted as genuine, Prince Odi insisted that his parents had represented him in a customary ceremony, even though they had never been formally married.

On December 30, 2012, she gave birth to a daughter, Purity Ozioma Okojie, at an unidentified U.S. hospital. Her father had given her the name Purity. He claims that his wife’s amazing traits are the reason he chose her name. On October 15, 2014, Henry Ozioma Okojie, their son, was born. Maryland’s Baltimore is where he was born.

She established the “Mercy Johnson Foundation” to aid widows and underprivileged children. She frequently contributes to the fund herself.
